Our Staff

Our goal is to make all of our patients feel right at home! We put your needs first to achieve efficient and comprehensive treatment. Our staff is trained and skilled, and we strive to provide energetic and fun-loving service to each patient. Each chair-side assistant, sterilization technician and laboratory technician is a registered dental assistant. Our team has years of experience in treating patients with the highest level of care.

We strive to stay abreast of the very latest in dentistry by regularly attending continuing education courses and seminars throughout the year. The staff also attends the Iowa Dental Association meeting to stay updated on new products and techniques.

Alli

Alli lives in Des Moines with her husband and dog (Kiki). She's been in the dental field since 2015. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She loves warm weather and enjoying the outdoors.

Amber

I have worked in the orthodontic field as a chairside assistant since 2002. My favorite part of my job is getting to know all of the patients and helping create great smiles. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three kids.

Amy

Amy lives in Urbandale with her husband, Jake, and their three children, Connor, Addie, and Caden. She has been in the orthodontic field as a chairside assistant since 1999. In her free time she loves to be with family and friends, traveling, and being creative.

Andrea

My name is Andrea, and I am a receptionist at Bernhardt and Smith. In my free time, I love watching my kids play sports and hanging out with family and friends.

Anna

Anna lives in St. Charles with her husband and two daughters. She has been a dental assistant since 1999 and joined our staff as a chairside assistant in 2016. She is a huge Green Bay Packers fan, enjoys camping, and spending time with her family.

Jaclyn

I've been a chairside orthodontic assistant since 2018. I have an amazing husband who can fix anything. I enjoy reading, art, drawing, painting, Halloween, and sleeping.

Jeff

Jeff lives in Waukee with his wife and three children. He has worked with Drs. Bernhardt and Smith since 2002 and is the practice Office Manager. He enjoys golfing, hunting, and spending time with his family.

Kelsey

Kelsey is a chairside assistant at Bernhardt & Smith Orthodontics. She lives in West Des Moines with her husband, son and daughter. In her free time she enjoys running, kayaking, cooking, and traveling.

Mary

Mary lives in Des Moines with her husband and two daughters. She has worked with Drs. Bernhardt and Smith since 2009 as the Financial and Insurance Coordinator. She enjoys fly fishing, cooking, reading, and spending time with her family.

Michaela

I live in Winterset with my husband and two children, Liam and Spencer. I have been a dental lab technician with the office since June 2019. I love spending time with my family, photography, and playing board games.

Rachel

I live in Waukee with my husband, Dustin, and our dog, Stella. I have worked as a receptionist with Bernhardt and Smith since April 2003. In my spare time I enjoy walking our dog and riding our Harley.

Samantha

I live in Waukee with my husband, Lance, and our three children, Hayden, Wyatt, and Tyson. I love spending time with my family and watching my kids play their sports. I have worked in the office since 2006 and currently am the treatment coordinator for Dr. Bernhardt.

Sarah

I am a receptionist for Bernhardt & Smith Orthodontics. I have 3 daughters, 3 sons-in-law, and 6 grandchildren. I enjoy swimming, sports, and being outdoors.

Tara

I live in Indianola with my husband, Aaron. We have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. We enjoy losing to my son at Mario Kart or going to my niece and nephew's sporting events. I really enjoy working at Bernhardt and Smith and look forward to seeing you from behind the front desk.
