Our goal is to make all of our patients feel right at home! We put your needs first to achieve efficient and comprehensive treatment. Our staff is trained and skilled, and we strive to provide energetic and fun-loving service to each patient. Each chair-side assistant, sterilization technician and laboratory technician is a registered dental assistant. Our team has years of experience in treating patients with the highest level of care.
We strive to stay abreast of the very latest in dentistry by regularly attending continuing education courses and seminars throughout the year. The staff also attends the Iowa Dental Association meeting to stay updated on new products and techniques. Also, our staff chooses to volunteer at the Iowa Mission of Mercy, a 2-day event that provides free dental care to underprivileged Iowans.

I have worked in the orthodontic field since 2002. My favorite part of my job is getting to know all of the patients and helping create great smiles. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my husband and three kids.

Amy lives in Urbandale with her husband, Jake and their three children, Connor, Addie and Caden. She has been in the dental field since 1999. In her free time she loves to be with family and friends, traveling and being creative.

Anna lives in St. Charles with her husband and two daughters. She has been a dental assistant since 1999 and joined our staff in 2016. She is a huge Green Bay Packer fan, enjoys camping and spending time with her family.
Chelsea
Chelsea lives in Waukee with her husband, Nick and daughter, Palmer. She has worked at Bernhardt and Smith since 2005. She loves Packers football and is always working on a house project.
Jaclyn
I’ve been in ortho since 2018. I have an amazing husband who can fix anything. I enjoy reading, art, drawing, painting, Halloween and sleeping.

Jeff lives in Waukee with his wife and three children. He has worked with Drs. Bernhardt and Smith since 2002 and is the practice Office Manager. He enjoys golfing, hunting, and spending time with his family.

Kelsey lives in West Des Moines with her husband and son. In her free time she enjoys running, kayaking, cooking and traveling.
Mary
Mary lives in Des Moines with her husband and two daughters. She has worked with Drs. Bernhardt and Smith since 2009, as the Financial and Insurance Coordinator. She enjoys running, reading, golf and spending time with her family.

I live in Winterset with my husband and two children, Liam and Spencer. I have been a dental lab technician with the office since June 2019. I love spending time with my family, photography and playing board games.
Parker
Hi! I’m Parker. I’ve been an orthodontic assistant for 4 years and I love it! I have 3 boys who keep me busy, however, in my free time I love to read and refinish furniture.

I live in Waukee with my husband, Dustin and our dog Stella. I have worked as a receptionist with Bernhardt and Smith since April 2003. In my spare time I enjoy walking our dog and riding our Harley.

I live in Waukee with my husband, Lance and our three children, Hayden, Wyatt and Tyson. I love spending time with my family and watching my kids play their sports. I have worked in the office since 2006 and currently am the treatment coordinator for Dr. Bernhardt.

Tara is married and has two children, Kendall and Sanderson. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends. Tara has been a dental assistant since 2001.
